About

Microsoft's Majorana 1, announced February 2025, is the first quantum chip based on topological qubits using a novel topoconductor material. Topological qubits store information in the global properties of the system rather than individual particles, theoretically offering inherent error protection. While still at the 8-qubit research stage, Microsoft projects this approach could scale to 1 million qubits on a single chip.
